White Throne Magazine - Issue #7 - 1991

White Throne is regarded as one of the better magazines that covered the Christian metal and rock music scenes, from major label releases through independent albums and demos. The magazine was located in Castro Valley, California (near San Francisco) and published a total of 13 issues between 1986 and 1993.

This issue includes an extensive 6-page interview with the members of King’s X plus their manager Sam Taylor. The 12-string bass is mentioned:

“DOUG: Well, we toured with CHEAP TRICK for a while. That was a lot of fun. The guys in the band really liked us. Since I’m from Chicago it was kind of neat. We all grew up in the same area. Tom Petersen (sic) is one of my favorite bass players because I always liked his sound. I got to hang out and play his 12 string bass. In fact, I got one coming.”

“WT: Great. He’s the one that invented the 12 string bass.”

“DOUG: Yeah, he did. We had an endorsement deal with the guys who built it for him. So they’re making us junk like that…”
