Mark “Surf” Rowe featured in Bass Player magazine

The July, 2020 issue of Bass Player Magazine featured a 2-page interview with this site’s editor, Mark “Surf” Rowe. Surf discusses how he got involved with his 12-string bass obsession, plus the intimidation factor involved in playing this monster instrument. In addition, this month’s issue includes interviews with Mark King of Level 42, Cher’s bassist Ashley Reeve, and a look back at the late legendary bassist Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead.

Also included in the feature is a “family photo” of 52 of the 12-string basses in his collection, which is thought to be the largest collection of 12’s on the planet. An identification guide is included.

In addition to the Bass Player Magazine feature, Surf’s interview is also included in Bass Guitar Magazine in the UK. A huge THANK YOU to Joel McIver, editor of both magazines, for the fun phone interview and the great job putting it all together!

The feature is included in both Bass Player Magazine in the USA as well as Bass Guitar Magazine in the UK.
