Distributed in the Rockford, Illinois area by Gary and Shelley Wilmer, Cheap Trick and its members were frequently the topic of articles in this magazine since the band members lived in the Rockford area. In addition to stories about their hometown hero’s albums and concerts, the band members were frequently involved in benefits and local charities. In this issue for instance, Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos are mentioned as appearing at an upcoming ‘Rock Against Cancer’ event.

Editor’s note: The “Rock Against Cancer Benefit II” event was held on October 9, 1994 as a benefit for this publication’s editor, Gary Wilmer. In addition to Carlos and Nielsen, former Cheap Trick bassist Jon Brant also attended and sat in on bass for a few songs. Wilmer passed away from complications of his cancer chemotherapy treatments one week later on October 16, 1994.
