The Stage Monitor music newspaper was published for a short time in Detroit, Michigan by Michael F. Kareha. Its purpose was to promote the local and national rock music scene with emphasis on the local bands and clubs. Most of the staff writers were local musicians.

This premiere 16-page issue of Stage Monitor featured Cheap Trick on the front cover to promote their upcoming concert at the brand new Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The cover photo by Robert Alford shows Tom Petersson playing his Natural Hamer B12A 12-string bass. This photo was published in a variety of magazines and was used by the band on a 2” souvenir promotional pin.

A ticket for this Cheap Trick concert at the Joe Louis Arena on April 25, 1980.
