Cheap Trick Collector’s Limited Edition Puzzle

This jigsaw puzzle was offered by Cheap Trick in 1980 and includes at least seven images of 12-string basses. It was released late that year as there are three black/white images of Pete Comita. Presumably the puzzle artwork had to be updated when Tom Petersson left the band that fall and no color photos of Comita were available.

Front and back of the puzzle cannisters.

The jigsaw puzzle comes in a small cylindrical canister which is about 5½” high. The artwork on the canister is the same as the puzzle. The puzzle has 308 pieces, 14 pieces wide by 22 pieces high, and measures 11¼” by 17½”.

On the official Cheap Trick merchandise flyer for 1980 the puzzle is listed as a “Collector’s Limited Edition” with a retail price of $6.00.

The number of puzzles manufactured and sold is unknown. This puzzle is extremely difficult to find - one recently sold on an online auction site for more than US $225.00.
