“Jeff Ament’s Hamer 12-string is quite unique looking. In the shop we call it the ‘Ament Bass’. We don’t really have a name or designation for it. It has a solid mahogany bass with EMG pickups. I am sure we will be making the Jeff Ament style 12-string bass for quite a while because when the 13 or 14 year old kids who are / were big fans of Pearl Jam 10 years ago become interested in playing in a band, they will probably want to play a Hamer Jeff Ament 12-string bass.” - Jol Dantzig

“Just before Jeff got into Pearl Jam he and I had corresponded and he sent me his stuff. He was a big Tom Petersson fan and wanted that big sound. We just kind of hit it off. I liked what he was doing and I dug his music. It was just collaboration. He and I would talk endlessly about guitars and he had some real clear ideas of what he wanted. If they were totally off the wall or unable to be done, then I would steer him in a different way. Jeff clearly wanted to be an individual and have his own look.” - Jol Dantzig
