Sound International was the consumer-directed offshoot of the music industry Studio Sound magazine. There were 40 issues published from May, 1978 to August, 1981. It incorporated the long-running Beat Instrumental magazine into its content starting in August of 1980.

While this issue claims to feature Rick Nielsen’s 135 guitars, less than 20 of them are pictured and only a few more discussed. The prototype Hamer 10-string bass is included in the photo.
